  • Future Yard CIC

    The Sound Check project was developed to provide young people with a taste of working in the music industry, covering topics such as sound, lighting, and promotion.

    Despite working within COVID restrictions 7 participants completed the 12 week course culminating in a live event curated by the young people.

    Outcomes

    Evaluations from before and after the course showed significant growth in knowledge and confidence amongst all the participants.

    “Managing and planning live events is something that I think I would like to go into in the future, and the Sound Check course helped me realise this”

    “Gaining the skills involved in sound and light engineering was difficult, which made it all the more rewarding when I found myself able to successfully do the tech for a set of live performances from a local band 'Denio’.”

  • Shaftesbury Youth Club

    Following feedback and demand from the community a proposal was developed to provide an accessible community supermarket for people in the area. Following a successful application to the community grants scheme funding was awarded help establish the supermarket.

    The other element of the project was to host a number of regular social lunches aimed at engaging people who may be isolated or lonely.

    Outcomes

    The supermarket regularly supports people who are in financial hardship by providing them with access to low cost food. Whilst visiting the supermarket staff and volunteers can make links and provide other advice to customers.

    The regular social activities provide a much needed lifeline to isolated people in the area that has enabled them to develop new friendships.

  • Grow Wellbeing CIC

    The project was delivered by Grow Wellbeing CIC alongside participants from WEB Merseyside, a charity which aims to support women in Wirral.

    The aim of the project was to provide wellness activities to women who may have issues such as; low mood, isolation and lack of confidence. The activities provided focused on creativity, relaxation and learning new skills in a safe and pleasant outdoor environment.

    Outcomes

    Here are some comments from participants;

    “I didn’t feel lonely and enjoyed spending time outdoors”

    “It was great to make new connections with new people and organisations”

    “I enjoyed connecting with other learning about self and being creative”

  • Marshlands Road Garden Project

    A group of residents approached their local housing officer with a proposal to improve an underused piece of land adjacent to their row of houses. The customers were supported by the Community Regeneration Team to develop their idea which focused on creating a new flower bed and installing a trellis for climbing plants on an unused piece of land.

    Outcomes

    The project provided a great opportunity for the customers to work and support each other to deliver the joint project. An underused and unattractive piece of land has now been transformed into an attractive space which has brightened up the area and helped to create a sense of pride and ownership amongst the customers that took part.

    The success of the project demonstrated to the customers that Magenta Living staff can listen effectively and are able to work collaboratively to achieve projects that enhance our neighbourhoods.

  • Bidston Football Project

    Following ASB reports of young people playing football in the street the local housing officer approached the Community Regenerations Team about developing a diversionary project.

    Regular football sessions were delivered at Bidston Tennis Centre. With help from volunteers at Magenta Livings community house on Clover Drive the project was promoted to families in the community.

    Outcomes

    The project was accessed by 50 children between the ages 6 – 12. Many of the children did not play football regularly and the project provided a great opportunity for them to get involved.

    “My son really enjoys coming every week, he has been diagnosed with dyspraxia and ADHD, this group has really lifted his spirits and confidence it has taught him how to bond with other children and work as a team. He has been really happy since coming to football and looks forward to it, really commend the staff for the fabulous work they do"
